I planted the morning glories in the late spring and attached them to electrical wires with string. By late summer, they were so heavy and full that they threatened to pull all the wires down. I didn’t anticipate that. Back in New England, I’d planted a morning glory plant and there hadn’t even been one blossom by the time I returned to college. The wires were weighted down, struggling against these beautiful blue flowers.

And so finally, not wishing to lose electricity, they cut the vines at the root. Three weeks later, the plant has refused to stop blossoming. The blue flowers emerge every morning before sunrise and last all day.
